Capote

I always wanted to watch this Oscar winning movie - Capote,
especially I always wanted to watch how facinating is Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was in the movie Mission Impossible, Patch Adams, Along Came Polly and also Charlie Wilson's War.
If you have watched all the movies i mentioned above,
then you will realised that it's reasonable for you to not remember his real name because he looked and acted so differently in every movies.

Although I personally think that the movie Charlie Wilson's War is pretty bad compare with Lions for Lambs (played by Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford),
Philip Seymour Hoffman was so GOOD in Charlie Wilson's War as well.

No offence but Tom Hank and Julia Roberts are not doing their best in this movie.

The "thing" with Philip Seymour Hoffman is that he can play any role or character and he can transformed into another person whenever the movie or the script needed him to do so.

Unlike Tom Cruise and Andy Lau,
no matter in what kind of movies,
they still "ACT" as Tom Cruise and Andy Lau.

The similarities between Tom and Andy are:
- can't act
- famous
- rich
- good looking
- not tall

and....that's it.

With these similarities,
they are heading to the same way in their career.

Always play as a hero in the movie and nothing else.

Well of cause....
Andy is better because he is not a follower of Scientology,
and he never jump on Oprah's sofa....

so.... Andy is still consider "normal" as a person because he is not as weird as Tom.

But, Philip Seymour Hoffman!
Oh my god!!!
He is just so amazing!!!!!

Maybe that's what happen when you are not good looking.
You just have to be a great actor in order to survive in this industry.

It doesn't sound fair but this is how things work in the world.

Too bad huh~~
for those who don't have pretty faces.

After watching the movie-Capote,
we know that if you want to have a great success in your life,
you must sacrify something.

It's either yourself or others.

In this movie,
Truman Capote sacrified both.

At first,
I really thought he wanted to understand the world of the killer.
It is not fair for us as a normal person to judge how a killer thinks.

I was quite convinced with this theory but it doesn't mean we can let the killer get rid of his crime but the truth is we are using our thoughts and perceptions to decide other's wrong who is a person that think so differently from us!

Is that fair?
To put the majority's thoughts in deciding the minority's guilt?

No, this is not fair.
But, this is how the world works isn't it?

Majority prevails.

Law is not about fairness;
it isn't about right or wrong.

In the end,
it's about how the majorities think at the particular time and circumstances.

Haha~~

Fair?
Justice?
Right?
Wrong?

Who to decide?

Well,
you might argue it's decided by rationality of human being,
but who to define what is consider as rational?

Why a psycho can't say that we are irrational and what he did was right?

Why not?

MAJORITY'S RULE !

Utilitarian?
I don't know~~
it's too deep to get into this philosophical arguement.

All I want to say is I thought the movie, Capote is trying to lead us to think deeply about the issue i raised out earlier.

The truth is:
No.

In the end,
the movie is merely about how desperate is Capote to finish his non-fiction novel- In Cold Blood.

It's a very staright forward movie and it kind of disappoint me.
But I'm still very impressed with Phillip Seymour Hoffman's acting.

In the movie,
everytime when Capote lied to the killer, Perry,
he makes me feel that Capote is the one who should be called as Cold Blood killer.

Capote gave false hope to the killer and all he wants is only the reason they killed the Clutter's family.

When Perry has no value for Capote to use anymore,
the "friendship" between the writer and the killer is gone.

But there is a danger in using people-
which is you will have to sacrify your own true feelings.

You have given out your love and the feelings of guiltiness will keep on pouring in your heart~~

Capote died because of his guiltiness by being a alcoholic.
The same way Perry's mother died.

Ironic, right?

That's the reality.

Don't ever think that you be getting away of the wrong you have done.

It is just a matter of time when you get "paid back".
Or what the stupid-old-blondie-pussy-showing Sharon Stone said -

"Karma"
